Enrollment Analysis: African American students comprised 24.1% of Sabine PASS ISD schools' student body in 2022-23 school year

There were 89 African American students enrolled in Sabine PASS ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 1.1% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Sabine PASS ISD schools welcomed 370 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, African American students comprised 24.1% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Sabine PASS ISD roughly covers schools within Jefferson County and has a main office in Sabine Pass.

Sabine Pass School was the only school in the district which enrolled African American students, welcoming 89 students in the 2022-23 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
