Nederland ISD welcomed 5,009 students in 2021-22 school year

There were 5,009 students enrolled in Nederland ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, a slight decrease from the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 51.2% of them were boys, and 48.8% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 52% of the Nederland ISD total enrollment.

Nederland ISD roughly covers schools within Jefferson County with its main office in Nederland.

Among the seven schools in Nederland ISD, Nederland High School recorded the highest enrollment of 1,448 students in the 2021-22 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
