There were 2,560 students enrolled in West Orange-Cove CISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, 1.5% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 52.1% of them were boys, and 47.9% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were African American, representing 54.1% of the West Orange-Cove CISD total enrollment.

West Orange-Cove CISD roughly covers schools within Orange County with its main office in Orange.

Among the four schools in West Orange-Cove CISD, West Orange-Stark Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 1,107 students in the 2021-22 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
