As Detectives began investigating the Homicide and Aggravated Assault on Nolan, they discovered that on Monday, October 12 at 6:05 a.m., BPD Patrol Officers responded to the 100 block of East Caston in reference to an Aggravated Robbery/Car-jacking. The victim advised that as he was leaving for work, he was approached by two black males, armed with handguns. The suspects assaulted and robbed the victim, then stole his truck. The victim told Police that the suspects were driving a red Chevy Impala. Detectives began investigating the possibility of the two cases being committed by the same suspects. At about 8:00 a.m. on Monday, October 12, BPD Detectives were notified that a Groves Police Officer had located the victim’s stolen truck at an apartment complex in Groves and had several suspects detained. The suspects were brought to the Beaumont Police Department to speak with Detectives. Following interviews, Christopher De’Sean Mitchell (18 year old Port Arthur resident, pictured below in orange with tattoo on right side of his neck), Kyrian Harris (17 year old Port Arthur resident, pictured below in blue), and Dominque Abraham (17 year old Port Arthur resident, pictured below in orange with red tattoo over his left eyebrow) were all placed under arrest for the Aggravated Robbery that occurred on Caston and transported to the Jefferson County Jail.
The investigations continued and on Tuesday, October 27, 2020, BPD Detectives filed charges against Mitchell for the Murder of Christopher Sellers and Aggravated Assault of the second victim on October 11. Mitchell was still in the Jefferson County Jail for the Aggravated Robbery charge, therefore the additional charges were added with bonds totaling $1,500,000. The cases are still under investigation and additional charges may be filed. Harris and Abraham remain jailed on the Aggravated Robbery charges.
