Two individuals from Katy, Texas have been indicted on federal charges related to a mail theft scheme in the Eastern District of Texas. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Damien M. Diggs.
Brevin Lee Pogue, 26, and Dayana Amador-Enamorado, 24, are facing charges of conspiracy to commit bank fraud and conspiracy to steal U.S. mail and possess stolen U.S. mail. These charges stem from a two-count indictment returned by a federal grand jury on October 9, 2024.
Court documents reveal that an investigation began in April 2023 into stolen mail within the Eastern District of Texas. This investigation uncovered a complex operation involving the sale, shipment, and alteration of stolen checks and other financial instruments nationwide. The Parker Police Department arrested Pogue and Amador in August 2024 at an Airbnb property in Colorado.
If found guilty, both Pogue and Amador could face up to 30 years in federal prison.
The case is being investigated by several agencies including the U.S. Postal Inspection Service divisions in Fort Worth, Denver, and Houston; the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office in Colorado; and the Parker Police Department.
It is important to note that a federal indictment is not evidence of guilt as all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
