Today, Congressman Brian Babin introduced the No Bailouts for Reparations Act. This legislation seeks to prevent the United States government from providing financial assistance to any state or local government that implements reparations programs. According to Congressman Babin, this measure aims to protect American taxpayers from subsidizing what he describes as "misguided and divisive reparations policies" at lower levels of government.

In a statement, Congressman Babin expressed his concerns about states expecting federal bailouts after enacting such policies. He said, "States have the right to govern themselves, but they shouldn’t expect a federal bailout when their radical policies lead to economic disaster." He also criticized Washington, D.C., for passing a law allowing taxpayer-funded reparations, calling it "absolute insanity."

The bill is presented as a means of protecting taxpayers by ensuring that responsibility for funding reparations remains with state and local governments. The congressman emphasized that with national debt exceeding $34 trillion, American taxpayers should not be responsible for financing these initiatives.

Congressman Babin argues that many states and cities already face significant debt and budget issues. He contends that instead of addressing crime reduction or infrastructure needs, some leaders choose to allocate funds toward reparations. According to him, Texans and other Americans should not have to cover these expenses if budgets falter.

Additionally, the legislation opposes what it refers to as "radical identity politics," asserting that reparations based on race or historical grievances are unfair and unconstitutional. The focus should be on promoting economic opportunities rather than distributing government handouts based on ancestry.

The introduction of this bill has been reported by Fox News.
