There were 12 American Indian students enrolled in Vidor ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 7.7% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Vidor ISD schools welcomed 4,315 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, American Indian students comprised 0.3% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Vidor ISD roughly covers schools within Orange County and has a main office in Vidor.

Among the six schools in Vidor ISD schools, Vidor Junior High School recorded the highest enrollment of American Indian students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of three students.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
