Orangefield ISD schools Education: 23 African American students were enrolled in schools in 2022-23 school year

There were 23 African American students enrolled in Orangefield ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 35.3% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Orangefield ISD schools welcomed 1,856 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, African American students comprised 1.2% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Orangefield ISD roughly covers schools within Orange County and has a main office in Orangefield.

Among the three schools in Orangefield ISD schools, Orangefield Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of African American students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of 12 students.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
