Cost of college went up for all students at the Southeast Texas Career Institute

Tuition and fees rose 16.5 percent for 2018-19 at the Southeast Texas Career Institute, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Texas students paid $14,100 to attend the private for-profit school this year – $2,000 more than the $12,100 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 91 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 9 students received grants or scholarships totaling $35,212 and 4 students took out student loans totaling more than $24,418.

Including all undergraduates (89), 76 students used grants or scholarships totaling $254,815, and 21 students took out $251,789 in federal student loans.
