Local charities offer ways to give back during holiday season

With the holiday season underway, Coastal Bend residents are reminded of the importance of community support during winter. State Representative Todd Hunter highlights several local charities and organizations that offer opportunities for donations and volunteering.

Coastal Bend faces challenging weather conditions in winter, making donations of coats and blankets vital. Goodwill is a recommended organization for such contributions, with contact available at 361-884-4068.

Catholic Charities provides various assistance programs, including Emergency Aid and services for the disabled. Those interested in volunteering or donating can reach them at 361-884-0651 or visit their location at 615 Oliver Ct.

The Ronald McDonald House Charities supports families with sick children through different programs like Share-A-Meal and Pop Tab. Information on how to volunteer can be found by contacting them at 361-854-4073.

In Port Aransas, The Helping Hands Food Pantry offers food to those in need. Donations can be delivered to Community Presbyterian Church at 113 S. Alister St., or checks mailed to P.O. Box 147, Port Aransas, TX.

Rockport-Fulton Good Samaritans assist Aransas County citizens with essentials like food and clothing. They are located at 507 South Ann Street, Rockport, Texas, reachable at (361) 790-9828.
