U.S. Representatives Randy Weber and Chip Roy, both from Texas, have taken a stand against the Biden-Harris Administration, urging it to provide essential data that would help maintain the integrity of elections in Texas. They are joined by several other Republican lawmakers from Texas in their demand for citizenship verification data to ensure only U.S. citizens are registered to vote.
The call for action follows an announcement by Governor Greg Abbott about the removal of 6,500 potential noncitizens from voter rolls in Texas. This situation has highlighted the need for further verification before upcoming elections. The federal government has not yet complied with Texas's request for access to data from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), which is crucial for verifying voter eligibility.
"The Harris-Biden administration's refusal to provide Texas with crucial information is a clear dereliction of duty," stated Rep. Weber. He criticized the administration for not releasing voter roll information necessary to keep elections clean.
Rep. Roy emphasized that public confidence in elections is vital and must be built through diligence and transparency: "Texas has a duty to prevent noncitizens from voting."
Rep. Troy Nehls described this election as "the most important election of my lifetime" and stressed the importance of providing USCIS citizenship data to ensure non-citizens are not registered to vote.
Other representatives echoed similar sentiments, expressing concerns over election security and accusing Democrats of prioritizing illegal immigrants over American citizens.
Rep. Pete Sessions noted, "Ensuring American elections are decided by Americans is of the utmost importance." He called on the federal government to fulfill its role in providing necessary information.
The group insists that immediate action is required from USCIS to deliver citizenship verification data without delay or excuses.
