Jefferson County’s 28 coaches earned an average salary of $106,723 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the 13th highest average salary per county earned by coaches at Texas post-secondary schools during 2022.

Jefferson County is home to two post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, Lamar University stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $110,957.

Male coaches of men's teams received $136,550 on average in Jefferson County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $73,745.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
