With the holiday season in full swing, it is important to remember those in need and find ways to give back. In a previous article, State Representative Todd Hunter discussed the importance of helping others through Toys for Tots. In this week's column, we will explore additional ways to make a significant impact in the lives of those less fortunate.

One of the most pressing needs during the winter months is warm clothing. Coastal Bend charities, such as Goodwill Industries of South Texas, Inc., accept donations of new or gently used coats, blankets, and other cold weather items. By donating these items, you can help others stay warm this winter. Contact Goodwill at 361-884-4068 or visit their website to find a donation location near you.

Catholic Charities – Corpus Christi is another organization that offers a range of assistance programs for those in need. From Emergency Aid to Ministry & Life Enrichment for the Disabled, there are various ways to get involved and make a difference. Visit their website or call 361-884-0651 to learn more about volunteer and donation opportunities.

The Ronald McDonald House Charities is dedicated to providing comfort and support for families with sick or critically injured children. By donating clothes and wish list items or volunteering your time, you can contribute to this worthy cause. Visit the Ronald McDonald House of South Texas website or call 361-854-4073 for more information on how to become a volunteer.

In Port Aransas, The Helping Hands Food Pantry, operated by the Community Presbyterian Church, provides perishable and nonperishable foods to those in need. Donations of nonperishable items can be brought to the church, or checks can be made out to Port Aransas Food Pantry and mailed to their address.

Rockport-Fulton Good Samaritans is an organization that offers assistance to citizens of Aransas County. From food and clothing to medical services, they are dedicated to helping those in need. Contact them at (361) 790-9828 or visit their website for more information on how to get involved.

State Representative Todd Hunter encourages everyone to give back this holiday season, whether through donating goods, contributing financially, or volunteering their time. "Together we can find a way to make this holiday season a bit brighter for those in need," he says.

For more information on the organizations mentioned in this article or if you have any questions, feel free to contact State Representative Todd Hunter's Capitol or District Office. His offices are available at any time to assist with concerns or comments.

Representing Aransas County and Nueces County, State Representative Todd Hunter can be reached at todd.hunter@house.texas.gov or at 512-463-0672.

In the spirit of the season, let us come together and make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate.
