There were 2,697 students enrolled in Hardin-Jefferson ISD schools in 2022-23 school year

There were 2,697 students enrolled in Hardin-Jefferson ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 3.4% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 52% of them were boys, and 48% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 70% of the Hardin-Jefferson ISD total enrollment.

Hardin-Jefferson ISD roughly covers schools within Hardin County with its main office in Sour Lake.

Among the five schools in Hardin-Jefferson ISD, Sour Lake Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 767 students in the 2022-23 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
