Cost of college went up for all students at Lamar State College-Orange

In-state tuition and fees rose 1.9 percent for 2018-19 at Lamar State College-Orange, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Texas residents paid $4,370 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $82 more than the $4,288 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 227.9 percent more than residents this year, or $14,330. Their price tag grew 0.6 percent from $14,248 in 2017-18.

About 97 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Texas residents. And about 3 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 58 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 153 students received grants or scholarships totaling $532,260 and 64 students took out student loans totaling more than $362,138.

Including all undergraduates (2,350), 1,462 students used grants or scholarships totaling $5.2 million, and 505 students took out $3.3 million in federal student loans.
