As the Texas Workforce Commission projects receiving more claims between the last week of March and the end of April than it did in all of 2019, local organizations and businesses are working to find solutions to the COVID-19 related economic crisis.
The Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce recently had more than 40 local businesses participate in an online meeting to discuss programs intended to help small businesses, according to the Beaumont Enterprise.
With reports of growing confusion over what assistance is available and who is eligible, the Chamber has created an online clearinghouse for information on its website in response to questions put to its members.
“The No. 1 answer to what we could do to help them was providing a dedicated resource for information,” the Chamber's vice president of Economic Development Ana Pereda said. “That’s why we decided to build a central website that has all of the links to sources people will need.”
