Randy Weber, a U.S. Congressman representing Texas’ 14th district since 2013, recently shared his thoughts on social media regarding legislative proceedings and policy stances. His comments reflect ongoing debates within Congress, particularly focusing on the One, Big, Beautiful Bill.
On May 14, 2025, Randy Weber expressed frustration over the lengthy process of marking up the bill. He noted that despite what he perceives as time-wasting by Democrats through “empty talk and LIES,” his party remains committed to advocating for American interests. He stated, “Closing in on 18 hours of marking up the One, Big, Beautiful Bill. The Democrats can drag this out all day, but while they waste time with empty talk and LIES, we’re standing strong and fighting for the American people.”
Later that day, Weber took a firm stance against Planned Parenthood by succinctly tweeting “Defund Planned Parenthood.” This statement underscores his opposition to funding for the organization.
In another post from May 14, Weber provided further details about the ongoing discussions in Congress. He highlighted specific issues being defended by Democrats during a House Commerce Committee markup session on the bill. According to him, these include Medicaid benefits for illegal immigrants and able-bodied adults who are not working. Weber tweeted: “We are about 26 hours into the @HouseCommerce markup on the One, Big, Beautiful Bill. In that time, Democrats have spent hours defending: – 1.4 million illegal immigrants receiving Medicaid – 4.8 million able-bodied adults who choose not to work staying on Medicaid – 1.2 million”
Randy Weber has served in Congress since succeeding Ron Paul in 2013 and previously represented Texas in its House of Representatives from 2009 to 2013. Born in Pearland and residing in Friendswood at age 69, he is an alumnus of the University of Houston–Clear Lake.
