Dade Phelan, Speaker of the Texas House and representative for the state’s 21st district, recently shared a series of posts on his X (formerly Twitter) account addressing his upcoming retirement, legislative achievements, and reactions to advocacy groups.

On August 21, 2025, Phelan posted: “This video from Chuck Norris about my retirement in 2026 is my last #txlege House political ad. paid for by Texans for Dade. May God Bless the House and may God Bless the Great State of Texas! #HD21 #SETX https://t.co/tpfq254h2Z”. The post referenced a video message from actor Chuck Norris marking Phelan’s final campaign advertisement as he prepares to retire in 2026.

Two days later, on August 22, 2025, Phelan commented on AARP’s swift engagement following his retirement announcement: “Well @AARP doesn’t waste any time . . . #txlege https://t.co/HWnEKrw3lk”.

On August 24, 2025, Phelan reflected on a significant legislative milestone involving gun rights in Texas: “HB 1927 was a #2A landmark piece of legislation & you did an incredible job getting it over the finish line. Proud to be a part of it. #ConCarry #txlege https://t.co/AUzaX3SynF”.
