Brian Babin, a U.S. Congressman representing Texas’ 36th district since 2015, recently shared several updates on social media regarding various issues of interest to his constituents. Babin, who was born in Port Arthur, Texas in 1948 and graduated from Lamar University in 1973, continues to engage with topics ranging from local community honors to national legislative efforts.
On May 21, 2025, Babin expressed sentiments about a local tribute via Twitter: “Jumping for joy in Heaven, indeed. It’s only fitting that a place of such peace and beauty in #TX36 bears the name of a beautiful little girl.” This tweet reflects his connection to the community he serves.
Later that day, Babin addressed healthcare needs in rural America through another post. He emphasized the importance of increasing healthcare providers in these areas by sharing an op-ed he authored: “We need more healthcare providers, especially in rural America. My latest @WashTimes op-ed highlights how we can strengthen the pipeline of future providers and ensure access to care.”
In a subsequent tweet on the same day, Babin advocated for changes to firearms legislation. He wrote about his support for including the SHORT Act in reconciliation processes: “I’m pushing for the SHORT Act to be included in reconciliation. This would remove Short Barreled Rifles (SBRs), Short Barreled Shotguns (SBSs) and ‘Any Other Weapons’ (AOWs) from the National Firearms Act. I’ll always stand for the Second Amendment — yours and mine!”
